Anglican Beginning in the 1770s ReidThomas Baldwin (17531825) was one of the most prominent Baptist clergymen in early America. He served as pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Boston from 1790 until his death in 1825, and was widely regarded as faithful, affectionate, devoted, and very successful in his ministry. He was also deeply engaged in civic life before entering the ministry he served New Hampshire as a legislator, and after moving to Boston he was frequently elected chaplain
